Some news ex-pats might not know but should...

Note: Did you catch our allusion to the Buffalo Evening News and the Courier Express in this masthead? Yes, for ExPat's its not the Buffalo News, it's the ..Evening News, and the Courier Express is still delivered each morning. (See a Courier masthead on our nostalgia page.)

If you've followed the link from  the "Buffalo-ish" article in BRO, welcome! We're ready for you. Check this.

The best of Buffalo for ExPats.   See our Standing Buffalo ExPat Awards.

On the Waterfront

We've just discovered an interesting site to keep expats informed about developments on the Waterfront. There's also other good Buffalo material there. The site is owned by Dave Courtney of Buffalo T Shirts, a business that designs and sells limited edition t-shirts that celebrate Buffalo. Our favorite is his Rocketship Seven t-shirt. You'll see it at his Buffalo Harborfront site.

The Quintessential Party for Buffalo ExPat's: Buffalo Homecoming, (Citybration) June 26-29.

Will we see you there? More on our Homecoming page. "Four days to fall in love with Buffalo. All over again."

Buffalo Book Fair, Coming in July

Whether or not you make the Homecoming party (opposite) here's another excuse to come back. Meet local authors, enjoy the park (Delaware) and the best month for weather in the QC. And Laura Pedersen will be there! (below) July 18th. More at our Homecoming page.

Ex-Pats You should Know

This one is a RePat and she'd like to make you a Re-Pat too! Marti Gorman may be doing more to rebuild Buffalo singlehandedly than anyone else. Her site is Buffalo HomecomingMore on Marti.

Another Great Site, and a Great New Program for Buffalo's Young Professionals: Bflo Niagara 360

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership is a fantastic organization dedicated to rebuilding and enhancing the business and economic climate in the region. BNP recognizes that a skilled and diverse professional talent pool is essential to the growth of the regional economy. That’s why the organization is pleased to launch Buffalo Niagara 360, a unique program for the next generation of local business leaders and innovators. This program is designed to help develop young local talent for the purpose of helping our young professionals grow while remaining in the home area. It benefits the area and the young professional workforce. A two-fer. You could say this program aims to reduce the number of Buffalo Ex Pats in the next generation.

Off Ramp from the Recession?
According to a recent Business Week article, Buffalo is actually enjoying slight growth in income, jobs, home prices, and no credit crunch among locally based banks. More  There are efforts underway to package and market Buffalo's economic strong suits as being uniquely positioned to be the hub of the new post-information/service economy, the Silicon Valley of the new entrepreneurial age.  More
