Bisons
_________________________________________

My first Bisons game was in May or June of 1966, against Toronto in the International League. It was in the old Rockpile, and there couldn't have been more than two hundred fans in the stadium, scattered about.

My next game was after I'd moved out of town, in Pilot Field, as the "new" baseball stadium was originally named. Totally different experience. Of course that was the year we were naive enough to think that if we packed the place all season we'd get a major league team. In hindsight we're probably all glad we didn't. The Bisons are a good sports value, a fun place to go and just feel good about being in Buffalo with Buffalaonians, when visiting at home in the warmer months. -jwh-

As the 2009 season opens, we're finally rid of that awful Dung Tire name, and can hope things will go better with Coke. It is also another first: our new parent team the Mets give the team a new look.

So here's a question. Being the one major-league sport Buffalo has never had, who in MLB deserves Buffalo Loyalty? Is it the Bisons' parent team of the moment, the Yanks, the Mets, the Indians, the Blue Jays? Let us know.  Add your comments.

Branding makeover!

Last year's look (above) is gone and a new logo of Met colors (top) greets the new season in Coca Cola Field.
First season in Mets organization not stellar.
This past season's Bisons resemble the early Mets with Casey Stengel. But, the newly named Coke Field and the overall experience is still a good entertainment value.
