______________________________________________Pierce Arrow

Buffalo was home to this luxury line of automobiles from 1901-1933. The company was purchased by Studebaker in the late 1920's due to weak sales, no doubt because of the Great Depression. Studebaker hoped to use this make to shore up his own brand, making Pierce Arrow the Studebaker equivalent of the Cadillac or the Packard. The attempt failed and the company died in receivership in 1933. It is still a great moment in Buffalo history, and a great product made with local skill, talent, and hard work. It certainly didn't fail due to lack of quality. As you can probably tell, I'm in love with the Silver Arrow.
